Member Profile: Sheila Buckthorp L.R.A.M. |
Sheila has so much talent and so
many theatrical credits to her oh so often misspelled name that it is pretty much impossible
to dare to write anything about her for fear of missing something out
or not doing her enough justice. Anyway... fear is not my middle name (it's James), so I'm
gonna work on the principle that writing just a bit is better than
nothing at all!
Sheila has, over many years, appeared extensively on the stages of Lincoln's theatres in straight, comic and musical roles. As well as the Broadbent, she has most notably, performed at the Lincoln Theatre Royal as a member of both the Lincoln Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society and the County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society. Shelia was in fact a founder member of the COADS back in 1950 when she appeared as a dancer in their first show, Lilac Domino. She now boasts the 'hat trick of hat tricks' having played Aunt Eller in Oklahoma! three times, Mrs Higgins in My Fair Lady three times and Yente in Fiddler on the Roof three times! Her favorite musical is Oklahoma! and she loves the role of Aunt Ella. Sheila uses her qualification as a licentiate of The Royal Academy of Music (LRAM Speech and Drama) to coach other theatrical enthusiasts. We are very proud to have had Sheila grace the Broadbent stage in twenty shows over as many years. |
