Plot Summery: Bill (Hopkins) walked out on his wife Emmy and is struggling to come to terms with himself, his changing values and his responsibilities as a father. Bill befriends Roger (Broadbent), also separated from his wife and son. Together they try to face the reality of their situations. The furious resentment lurking within both of them surfaces when Roger's wife plans to leave for Australia and Bill urges Roger to enter into a custody battle. Roger wins with some help from his fiendish lawyer (Callow). After this revenge on feminism and once the rage is out of him, Bill has a much clearer vision of his relationships but at the expense of damaging those around him. He realises that it wasn't his wife that he left, but his adored son.
Patrick Says: Outstanding performances by co-stars Hopkins and Broadbent. The promising plot is let down a little by weak script-writing.
