‘Chatroom’
by Enda Walsh
The Lindsey Rural Players (LRP) is looking for actors aged between 15 and 20 (or there abouts) for their forthcoming production of ‘Chatroom’.
The play centres around six characters; William, Jim, Jack, Eva, Emily and Laura. The six teenage characters communicate only via the internet. Conversations range in subject from Britney Spears to Willy Wonka to – suicide: Jim is depressed and talks of ending his life and Eva and William decide to do their utmost to persuade him to carry out his threat. From this chilling premise is forged a funny, compelling and uplifting play that tackles the issues of teenage life head-on and with great understanding.
The play itself deals with mature themes, and contains some strong language – but is perfectly suitable for those aged 15 and up.
The theatre is looking at running this project during the summer holidays and performing at the end of August – so it can be completed in time for actors returning to school/university, while giving young actors something to work towards during the long summer.
Rehearsal dates will be decided amongst the cast and crew once a final cast has been announced to work best with everybody’s summer plans.
Reading and audition dates will be held at the theatre Friday 26th July at 19:30. (The Broadbent Theatre, Snarford Road, Wickenby, LN3 5AW)
If anybody is interested, but unable to make this date please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can arrange another time and date for an individual reading.
Any problems or queries please contact us at youth.theatre@broadbent.org or call Tom Murray on 07456061514.
Hi, name: Alan Bolt. Wondered if your theatre would be interested in promoting a one-off evening of light-hearted entertainment featuring myself & humurous observational poet Doreen Reed. Having both performed recently at a local festival for AgeUK we have been asked to do a split evening for an organisation in Cambridgeshire & instantly we both thought our presentations would compliment each other if we worked together more frequently. Currently we are individually performing/entertaining many organisations/groups around Lincolnshire & Norfolk but keen to work together at other times as we feel our material is being much more widely accepted & most of our work is generated by word of mouth! Fees can be negotiable I’m sure as I’m a semi-retired pro-acoustic entertainer & Doreen’s willingness to accommodate most enquiries just enhances her reputation as a writer/presenter. Doreen has her own website for perusal.
My details: ex-pro acoustic entertainer. Guitar, vocals, humour. Variations on folk, country, 50’s/60’s material plus audience participation songs.
TV / radio experience. Many local regional radio contributions. No recordings available as live performances have been my priority. Initially, please contact me on 01526 344417 (Dogdyke, Lincs) or 07771 277689 boltie2000@yahoo.com
