Airship Productions Present “It’s Joyful Joyce!” A Tribute to Joyce Grenfell with Rebecca Grace. A fantastic new and original one-woman theatre production A star of stage, screen and radio for 40 years, writer and entertainer Joyce Grenfell was one of Britain’s best loved performers. A familiar face to many through her film work, most notably as Sgt Ruby Gates in the St Trinian’s Ealing comedies, she is still fondly remembered today for the sparkling wit of her signature comic monologues and songs. In this brand new celebration of Joyce Grenfell’s work, Rebecca Grace performs Joyce’s character sketches and songs, some sharply funny, some poignant but all timeless and wonderful! Joyful Joyce can be seen at the Broadbent Theatre on Saturday 19th at 7.30pm. Tickets £8.50 and £7.00.

Sleeping Beauty has become a much loved traditional pantomime. The audience are invited to join in the celebrations of the birth of the Royal Princess Catherine and witness the evil Fairy Gravia cast her spell stating that the Princess would prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die! Can the good fairy Tania and her brother Bertie cast a counter spell to stop this from happening? Will Bertie earn his fairy wings? Will Prince William find his Princess? Will the Royal Nursemaid Mistess Bumble get her man? What will the Woodcutter spend all that money on? Do you believe in magic and fairy tales? The only way to find out is to book a ticket and come along to the show. Directors, Juliana and Patrick haven’t worked together on a production like this since their much acclaimed production of “Cinderella – It’s A Kinda of Magic” ten years ago, and have enjoyed teaming up again. We have an excellent cast including Nigel Dring as “Mistress Bumble”, Tom Murray and Rachel Hogg as “Bertie and Tania “ the good fairies, Ian Rushby as “Master of Ceremonies”, Mary Scott and Phil Cotterill as the “Minstrels” and Sharon Mace as the evil fairy [...]

In the cold winter of 1602, the century seemed to be refusing to start. The old Queen was dying but still not dead, and despite dozens of dalliances with the men of her court she had produced no heir. Religious civil war and foreign invasion loomed. It was a dark winter. In Stratford-upon-Avon, William Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet, had died, leaving a twin sister bereft. In January, the Lord Chamberlain’s men performed a new piece, Twelfth Night. It is a play shadowed from the outset by decay, overseen by decadent, self-indulgent monarchs in a land where the midwinter Festival of Misrule does not end. A sister watches her twin brother drown. It is the most enduringly funny and popular of Shakespeare’s comedies. The Movement’s latest production restores Twelfth Night to its wintry beginnings and to its original power: the story of dawn breaking, of the days lengthening and of a family’s love overcoming death. The Movement will be at the Broadbent Theatre with Twelfth Night on Sunday 15th January at 7:30pm. Tickets are £8.50 (full) and £7.00 (conc). Book online at www.broadbent.org or by calling the Box Office on 01673 885500

Something brand new is happening at the Broadbent: We’re turning the venue into a cinema for one night a month! We shall be opening with a Jim Broadbent film from 1999: The Young Victoria. The Young Victoria tells the story of Queen Victoria’s early years and her romance with Prince Albert. The movie will be shown on Thursday 20th October. We may decide to stick with the Jim Broadbent theme. We might even persude Jim himself to come and introduce the film for us. Please support this new venture. Let us have your thoughts and feedback. Maybe this will be a regular event each month; it all depends on its popularity with you, our audience.

Beating the queue and ensuring a seat at another sell out performance makes the whole experience worthwhile.” Further plans to make the theatre sustainable for the next 40 years and beyond include, looking into the feasibility of matching up people to share lifts and an upgraded heating and insulating scheme to help keep down costs, saving fuel and carbon emmissions ” The next show is “You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissie on Friday 14th October. Christiane waits in Gare Du Nord for a ticket to England where she will be reunited her with her fiance.
Northumberland Theatre Company are touring a new performance version of Molière’s Tartuffe by Stewart Howson. Tartuffe is a hilarious and outrageous classic. Tartuffe, a roguish imposter, worms his way into the orderly household of prosperous yet naive merchant Orgon. He sets out to marry the daughter, seduce the wife, imprison Orgon and get his hands on the family fortune. Cue disguises, thwarted lovers, eavesdropping and the famous ‘under the table scene’, one of the funniest comic set pieces ever written for the stage. Tartuffe is performed in a style with one foot in Commedia dell’Arte and the other in ‘Carry On’ yet with a relevance that will delight modern-day audiences. Tartuffe is being performed at the Broadbent Theatre, Wickenby on Sunday 25th September 2011 at 7:30pm. There are a few tickets left. Tickets are available online at www.broadbent.org or by calling Patrick or Charlotte at the Box Office on 01673 885500. “Wow! NTCs Tartuffe is a truly outstanding production. A super script, great direction and a drop dead brilliant cast made this one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve seen.” Alistair – Creative Arts East, Norfolk.

Tartuffe is a hilarious and outrageous classic.
