During this Month NTC  return to the Broadbent with “A Village Life”.  A week later we are very excited to welcome ABBA*SALUTE a top professional Tribute Duo who are sure to liven up the venue!

April sees the return of Andrew Sankey with another amusing talk for us.  Later in the month we have two visits from Old Forge Productions.  This time they bring us “Deceptions” and Stephen King’s “Misery”.

In May we welcome Edinburgh Festival favourite, KEVIN TOMLINSON with his improvised show “On The Edge”.  At the end of the month our very own Lindsey Rural Players bring you another favourite from the Farndale ladies who, this time, are attempting a production of the Scottish Play.

A real treat for us in June as TOM OWEN from Last of the Summer Wine brings us the story of two actors, Tom and his father Bill Owen and tales from the set of the famous Yorkshire sitcom.

Obituary: Nick Mugford.

March 5th, 2010

It is with great sadness that we report the death of LRP Member and Stage Manager Nick Mugford in November 2009.

Nick was a well-respected stage manager and committee member, he will be remembered by everyone who came into contact with him not only as a gentleman with a fantastic dry wit, but also a man who could speak passionately about a subject he cared about. If you needed a sound effect or piece of music however obscure it was, he would find it. In his capacity as stage manager he carried out the tasks with quiet efficiency always there helping put the set together, opening and locking up after performances, giving words of encouragement to all, ensuring props and people were in the right place at the right time.

Lindsey Rural Players have not only lost a member but also a true friend.

Dick Whittington comes to The Broadbent Theatre

January 7th, 2010
  Lindsey Rural Players
present
“Dick Whittington”
by Jan Allen
directed by Abi Wright

Following the success of ‘Snow White’ the team of Jan Allen (Scriptwriter) and Director Abi Wright are back in partnership again for our annual panto.

This year the story of the young man, who, together with his cat, made the journey from rags to riches to become Lord Mayor of London.

Once again a traditional pantomime, with song and dance, corny jokes, custard pies and plenty of thigh slapping.

Will Tom the Cat beat the evil King Rat?
Will  Dick get the girl and live happily ever after?
Will Prunella the Pirate Queen sail off into the sunset with Harry?
Will Fairy Orange Peal
& Fairy Lemon Peal ever get a spell right?
Will Dame Daphne Dumpling get her man?
Will the audience participation song ever end?

The show runs from January29th to February 13th 2010.  Evening shows at 7:30pm and weekend matinees at 3:00pm.  Ticket prices are £6.50 (full), £5.00 (conc) and £20 (family).  See www.broadbent.org for booking details.

Quiz Results

November 7th, 2009

At the Quiz last night we had 4 teams of 4 people, not very many but it was the Friday of Bonfire celebrations and was also pouring down when we left home.
We had a really good laugh at many of the answers and I think it can be said that it was a jolly affair!
The results are as follows:
1st The O-Team with 58
2nd SAS (Scothern & Spilsby) 55
3rd Egg heads with 50
4th Broken Trousers with 25.5

I enjoyed myself so much that I would like to do another quiz in the future and include Patrick’s General Knowledge questions which we didn’t have time for.

It should be a fun evening!     See you there!

Flipside

July 28th, 2009

I just thought I’d update you on the Youth Theatre and the preparations for “Flipside”.

Rehearsals are going very well, the team is really pulling together. The dedication and commitment shown by everyone is outstanding. Tonight we will be rehearsing as usual, with only 6 weeks left till performance, soon the nerves will kick in.

Even with being out of the theatre for a couple of weeks due to re-decoration and performance preparations, the youth theatre adapted really well to the new surroundings and weren’t fazed when bringing what we had rehearsed back into the theatre.

Abby and Jodie have done an amazing job. Thanks guys.

Hello All

April 27th, 2009

Seeing as I am one of the Youth Theatre members, I thought I’d keep you updated on what’s happening.

We have a full membership for the Youth Theatre at the moment and we all get along together as though we were family :)

Having Abby and Jodie as our Youth Theatre leaders we have learnt many new skills that some of us have been able to take else where to the small Drama Groups that we teach in our own school environment. These two are not just an asset to the Youth Theatre but to L.R.P as a whole. Without them we would not have had so many succesful shows, “Holka Polka”, “Skools Out” and “Robin Hood”.

Currently we are rehearsing for a show “Flipside”, that we will be performing in September.

Rehearsals are going well and although we have yet to cast the parts the prep that we are doing is very enjoyable and is still part of the rehearsal process.
